Do you want to feel like a royal?

   Well, in Downton Abbey you can! This marvelous residence will make you feel part of the English royal family. From it’s vast yard to its numerous rooms, this place is the eighth wonder of the world. Nothing can compare to it’s high standard service and activities, which include horse riding and sight seeing, among others. In addition, Downton Abbey is very well located as it is in the middle of the historic county of Yorkshire, so it is a great spot if you want to explore what it offers.

The Manor

History

The manor is a 19^th century mansion that remains with its original architecture. It belonged to the Crawley family, who were well-positioned, wealthy people who after heritance struggles, they were able to keep the ownership of their properties within the family.

Rooms

The house provides plenty of comfort. All the rooms have their own HD television, sofas, spacious dressers and their own bathroom, which are all from the Edwardian era. The bathrooms are actually separated into restroom and bathroom to make your stay even more comfortable. Depending on the room you book, the bathroom can also be equipped with a jacuzzi. The main suite, however, has even more to offer, like an incorporated dining room with a fireplace and living room. Additionally, each of the rooms have view to the field and the surrounding areas, and have a balcony with their own chairs and tables.

Dining and living rooms

Furthermore, the dinning room is large enough to let us serve our costumers to the highest of our standards depending on each of our clients’ preference. You are open to choose between eating while seated in a restful sofa by the fireplace or in a formal dinning table by the picture window.

Moreover, the manor itself has three different living rooms, all of them equipped with high technology features, such as HD televisions, Play Station 3, Play Station Move, five Mac Pro computers, among others. It also has a huge bookshelf with a vast variety of books, from the classic ones to the modern ones, and even some belong to the family collection.

Service

Our great staff includes twenty maids, fifteen waiters, a chef with ten cooks, a gardener, a horse trainer, a winery supervisor, a zoo guide and a receptionist, all supervised by our administrator. All of our employees are hard workers, respectful, kind people who will assist you whenever needed. If you have any complaints or suggestions concerning someone from our staff you can notify the administrator, who will gladly solve the problem.

The Meadow and Its Activities

The meadow is the favorite place to spend the afternoon, as there are so many activities you can do and as it is so big (five hectares). Some of these activities are:

• Sight seeing;
• Horse ridding;
• Feeding different animals, such as horses, goats, etc.;
• Fruits harvest;
• Winery visits.

Summing up, if you want to have a luxurious holiday in Yorkshire, you should totally stay in Downton Abbey, a place where you will fill like living in the Edwardian times, where you will enjoy family activities and where you will be served by the best of the best. Basically, a place that will make you feel like living in paradise.

¿Donde aprendo?

¿Donde aprendes? Yo aprendo de muchos lugares, y para organizarlo hice un PLE. Mi PLE es mi entorno personal de aprendizaje, donde aprendo, con diferentes herramientas, como la tele, youtube, wikipedia, etc.

No ser nadie

   La dictadura argentina dejó grandes secuelas. Una de ellas fue la pérdida de identidad de niños hijos de desaparecidos, al ser apropiados por militares. Las Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo nunca pararon de buscarlos, de puerta en puerta o hasta fijándose en las caritas de los nenes que les pasaban al frente, siempre intentando buscar un parecido a sus hijos. A través de métodos estudiados por colaboradores de todo el mundo gracias a su insistencia, se encontraron varios que podían ser utilizados para la identificación de niños cuando los padres no estuvieran presentes. Así comenzó la acción de las Abuelas para encontrar a sus hijos.

   Uno de los casos, es un testimonio dado por uno de estos niños apropiados. Manuel Gonçalves Granada, quien fue contactado, en un primer momento, por sus familiares, antes de que se hiciera algún tipo de estudio de identificación. Antes de hacerse el estudio de compatibilidad, le surgió la gran duda: "y si no soy yo?". Él afirma que en ese momento, lo que necesitaba era que le dijeran por medio de la ciencia quién era en verdad. Esa incertidumbre, de desconocer tu propia identidad, fue la que padeció Victoria Montenegro, también una hija de desaparecidos.

   Victoria Montenegro fue apropiada cuando tan sólo era un bebé. Su apropiador y asesino de sus padres, un coronel importante de la milicia, la crió como su propia hija. Al enterarse ella que podría no ser hija de él, lo negó rotundamente. No podía caberle en su cabeza algo así. Luego de realizarse los estudios y de la confirmación de que en verdad era hija de montoneros, ella, sintiendo un amor incondicional por su apropiador, piensa que él la amaba mucho por educar a una hija de subversivos. Sin embargo, después de un tiempo de comprensión, cae en cuenta de la realidad. Lo que ella cree que le dolió más, más allá del asesinato de sus padres, fue no saber quién era, no tener una identidad verdadera, porque no era ni la niña criada por el coronel, ni la niña criada por su familia biológica, la niña que debería haber sido pero no fue. No era ni una cosa ni la otra. El que le arrebataran tantos años, la infancia, la adolescencia, la juventud, con su familia, sus abuelos, es algo que resiente, porque es algo que podría haber sido pero nunca fue, y algo que nunca le van a poder devolver.

   En ambos casos, la acción de las Abuelas fue muy importante. Sin ellas, no se podría haber localizado a ninguno de los dos, ni se podría haber demostrado quienes eran en verdad, ni tampoco se hubiera podido hacer la reincorporación a sus familias biológicas. La acción de las Abuelas en estas como en otras historias es muy importante, porque unió familias, unió lazos cortados por la injusticia, e intenta enmendar lo que no fue creando un es.

How to write an information sheet?

Learning how to write an information sheet -also called leaflet- is very important when you need to inform, instruct or help an audience. What are the most important things to have in consideration when writing a leaflet? What should you do before and while you are writing it? This information sheet will answer all of these questions!

What makes a good leaflet?

To create a great leaflet there are a few factors you should take into consideration so as to make the reader understand clearly what you are trying to say.

Layout:
The layout of a good leaflet or information sheet should include an introductory paragraph which catches the reader’s attention, a body divided into categories with different headings and a conclusion.
In order to organise the leaflet in a clearer way, you can make use of bullet points. However, the excessive use of them can make the information sheet lose its original format.

Titles and headings:
An information sheet should be as clear as possible for the reader to understand. In order to succeed in this, the use of titles and headings is really important to divide the information. A good organisation makes the audience undstand the topic easily.

Text:
In a leaflet you should not include much information. Its main aim is to capture the public’s attention and transmit a simple message. You should avoid unnecessary information and evaluate whether what you are writing will interest someone who knows nothing about the topic.
Also include phone numbers, websites or e-mail addresses so that those interested can have access to more information.

Lettering:
The lettering should be attractive enough to catch the reader’s attention but sober enough to make your information sheet look serious.
You should use bold to highlight important concepts; underline headings and subheadings; use italics when you are using a foreign language, scientific names, nicknames or titles of books and movies.
Apart from that, the use of colours is important if you want to make a clear distinction of the different topics and it is important to have in mind that the size of the headings should be bigger than the size of the text.

Before you write
The main points to take into account before writing a leaflet are:
* Knowing the topic you are going to inform
* Choosing the best information to write so as to make the reader interested
* Getting the information separated into categories.

Making notes and writing
The basic steps on how to select information for an leaflet are:
* Brainstorm different ideas
* Dismiss unnecessary or irrelevant facts
* Select important information and express it as simple as possible.
* Choose a suitable and relevant heading.


By following these guidelines, you will express your knowledge in an information sheet that will surely hook people's attention!

Consumir por consumir, esa es la cuestion

¿Comprás un celular que usas un año y después lo tiras porque no funciona más?¿Padecés la fobia de las delicadas medias de nylon? (Es que traigo un segundo par en la cartera por si se me rompen). PRECAUCIÓN: ESTA PADECIENDO LA LLAMADA OBSOLESCENCIA PROGRAMADA. No te preocupes, son los fabricantes los del problema, no vos. Así es, no se te rompió el celular por esa vez que se te resbaló de las manos, fue porque los que lo fabricaron decidieron darle una vida útil más corta y así ganar más vendiendo más productos en un menor tiempo. Esto no sólo afecta nuestro bolsillo, sino también al planeta, porque al comprar más en un menor tiempo producimos más desechos que afectan al ambiente donde vivimos. En clase de ADS (Ambiente, Desarrollo y Sociedad) vimos un video relacionado a esto y sacamos nuestras propias conclusiones, las cuales se encuentran en este documento compartido.

Concepto en mapa

Durante la clase de ADS el jueves 2/5, realizamos un cuadro conceptual desarrollando los conceptos más importantes a tratar de nuestro proyecto de investigación. En mi caso, yo elegí como tema  los Hologramas, y lo que quiero investigar es principalmente sus aplicaciones, las cuales son muy variadas y desconocidas para la mayoría, como sus aplicaciones en la aeronáutica y la medicina, y su impacto en el ambiente con relación al consumo energético. Sin embargo, para poder indagar estos temas, es necesario saber qué son y cómo se hacen los hologramas. Ése será mi punto de partida.

Uno entre varios

El Síndrome de Down es uno de los tantos síndromes que existen. Este síndrome afecta a una entre 800 personas, y es causado por un cromosoma más en el par 21.
